2024 Phaedrus Pinot Gris Mornington Peninsula

$14.55

Phaedrus Pinot Gris

This is a rich, luscious style of Gris at the French end of the spectrum. The grapes are picked at maximum flavour potential and protectively handled before undergoing a wild yeast fermentation in stainless steel. The intensity of aroma and flavour are balanced with a clean acidity. Fresh pear aromas with a hint of honey suckle perfume. These flavours persist through to a luscious palate with great texture and balance.

* 2009 Exile Shiraz Barossa Valley

$29.99

Exile Shiraz

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Exile Shiraz is scented of creme de cassis, blackberry preserves and dried plums with nuances of chocolate, cedar, damp loam and black olives. Very big, rich and densely fruited on the full bodied palate, the muscular fruit is supported by a firm level of grainy tannins and lively acid, finishing long and earthy. Approachable now, it should drink best 2013 to 2021+.

Red wine 2

* 2005 Mount Pleasant Rosehill Shiraz Hunter Valley

$29.00

Mount Pleasant Rosehill Shiraz

Planted in 1946 by legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea, the Rosehill vineyard is one of only a few sites within the Hunter Valley with a special volcanic soil structure, formed over millons of years. This creates distinctive, earthy red wines with the complexity and fruit intensity to last decades. Excellent growing conditions resulted in a rich and fruitful 2005 Mount Pleasant Rosehill Shiraz. Aromas of red berries, spice and complex oak flow through to the sweet luscious palate drawing to a softly textured finish.

* 2002 Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified Rutherglen

$24.30

Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified

Under a new deal with the EEC the word Vintage Port is not permitted, and this wine is simply labelled as Fortified. The blend consists of 29% Shiraz, 25% Touriga, 20% Durif, 12% Tinta Barroca, 2% Tinta Roriz. This Fortified, as might be expected from the grape composition, is inspired by the Vintage Ports of Portugal. It is much drier on the palate than might be expected from traditional Australian Vintage Port styles.
Black brick red colour with black brick red hue. Top note of raisins, followed by marzipan, liquorice and brandy spirit. The palate is a complex, yet a youthful blend of brandy spirit, spicy marzipan, liquorice and raisins. Fine dryish tannins. Quite dry taste sensation. Clean spirit. Warm spicy back palate. Cellar 15-20 years (2023-2028) Alc/Vol: 18.1%
