Jud's Hill Shiraz

Red to purple in the glass, the nose is youthful with dark cherry and plum, the front palate shows ripe blackberry and dark cherry, with the mid to back palate shifting to a more savoury mode, with earth and mocha, it then finishes with rich ripe primary fruit, firm tannins and considerable length.

Dessert

Dessert wine 1

* 1995 Peter Lehmann of the Barossa Vintage Port

$21.00

Peter Lehmann of the Barossa Vintage Port

Showing enormous depth of character. A blend of Shiraz and Touriga Nacionale grapes. An exceptional Vintage Port made from Shiraz and Touriga Nacional. Opaque black crimson colour with very deep red hue. The nose is superb – an ecstatic sniff filled with the aroma of Christmas pudding, raisins, blackberry jam and very fine old brandy spirit. The palate is explosive – with superbly powerful flavours of liquorice, blackberry jam and velvet smooth brandy followed by a remarkably dry finish. A wonderful Portuguese inspired Vintage Port.

Dessert wine 2

* 1995 Seppeltsfield Show Vintage Touriga

$9.20

Seppeltsfield Show Vintage Touriga

Touriga (or more correctly Touriga Nacional) has its origins in the Dão region of Portugal and is generally regarded as the top quality port wine. This Seppeltsfield 1995 vintage is in half bottles which speeds the maturity process. A drier finish and the grape touriga underlines the point that this is an attempt at a more Portuguese style. It's still very fresh and vibrantly youthful, with a floral-peppery blend of fruit and spirit on the bouquet. It's soft and nicely balanced, and not tannic: a lovely drink right now, although it will age for a lot longer.
