St Ignatius Cabernet Merlot Malbec Cabernet Franc Seven Hill
Sevenhill cellars is the Clare Valley’s oldest winery, established by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1851. This vibrant red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and its relatives, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The great wines of Pomerol are the inspiration for this blend, first created at Sevenhill in 1991 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the birth of St Ignatius, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Bottled February 2007.
Ben Schild Reserve Barossa Shiraz
Named after Johannes Hugo Bernhard (Ben) Shild 1895-1956. Four years before his death he and his family moved from the harsh Mallee region of South Australia to purchase property in Rowland Flat. His descendants now hold considerable vineyards in the Barossa Valley and this is their finest shiraz. Following open fermentation, matured in American and Hungarian oak for 17 months. Like the Sevenhill this wine shows the reward of patient cellaring.
