Menu / Wines

On arrival

Santa Margherita Prosecco di Valdobbiandene

$17.99

Santa Margherita Prosecco di Valdobbiandene (Italian) has a very fine, persistent bead and scents of apples and pears that act as a prelude to the flavours of ripe stone fruit with a bit of melon and orange. Fresh and lively with a long, dry, yeasty finish.

Entrée

Tian of hand-picked spanner crab and avocado salsa
tempura soft shell crab, crustacean aioli

* 2009 Brian Barry Jud's Hill Clare Valley Riesling

$10.57

2011 Montes Alpha Chardonnay Chile

$18.05

Jud's Hill Clare Valley
Light straw-green; lime, herb and mineral aromas lead into a taught palate, with green lime and apple flavours, and a finish that needs to soften a bit. Smart new label design.

Montes Alpha Chardonnay
This is seriously good Chardonnay from our Chilean friends at Montes. Aurelio Montes has produced a fascinating white wine with complex aromas of butterscotch spice and peach that lead to a full rich and creamy palate with well-balanced oak.

Main

Chargrilled eye fillet steak
thick cut chips, glazed vegetables, red wine jus

* 1998 St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

$25.64

* 2002 Anderson Rutherglen Durif

$25.00

St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon
Without doubt one of the best Hugo's ever. Still amazingly youthful this will go on for years to come. Full bodied wine with dense, ripe, concentrated fruit characters supported by spicy French oak and supple tannins, with long lasting flavour.

Anderson Rutherglen Durif
Restrained alcohol and low pH take this wine into a different realm than most of Northeast Victoria durifs; well-balanced red fruits (rather than black) and ripe tannins.

Dessert

Baklava cheese cake
honey, almond and walnut drizzle

* 1995 Peter Lehmann The King AD2016 Vintage Port

$16.00

Peter Lehmann The King Vintage Port
An exceptional Vintage Port made from Shiraz and Touriga Nacional. Opaque black crimson colour with very deep red hue. The nose is superb – an ecstatic sniff filled with the aroma of Christmas pudding, raisins, blackberry jam and very fine old brandy spirit. The palate is explosive – with superbly powerful flavours of liquorice, blackberry jam and velvet smooth brandy followed by a remarkably dry finish. A wonderful Portuguese inspired Vintage Port. Cellar 10-20 years (2013-2023)
